This Privacy Policy describes how BookcastAI ("we", "us", or "our") handles personal information collected through our website and web application at bq.chaojinn.uk (the "Service").
We only collect and use personal information where it is necessary to provide the Service. We do not sell your data.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at bq.chaojinn.uk/privacy.html. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Information you provide directly
- Account information: email address and password when you register.
- Content you upload: EPUB files and any text or metadata they contain.
- Payment information: billing amounts and transaction identifiers. We do not store your card number — card data is handled exclusively by Stripe.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: features used, job history (TTS and EPUB parse jobs), queue contents, and credit balance.
- Session data: authentication tokens stored in browser cookies to keep you logged in.
- Log data: server logs may include IP address, browser type, and request timestamps for security and debugging purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information only for the purposes for which it was collected:
- Providing, operating, and improving the Service
- Processing payments and maintaining credit balances
- Sending transactional emails (welcome emails, password resets)
- Responding to support enquiries
- Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, or security incidents
- Complying with applicable legal obligations
We will not use your information for any unrelated purpose without your consent.
4. Direct Marketing
We do not send marketing emails. If we introduce promotional communications in the future, we will only do so with your explicit consent and will include a clear opt-out in every message.

5. Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as necessary to provide the Service or meet legal obligations.
- Account data (email, password hash): kept while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.
- Uploaded files and generated audio: kept while your account is active. You can delete individual books at any time from the Library page.
- Transaction records: kept for 7 years for financial record-keeping purposes.
- Server logs: kept for up to 90 days for security and debugging, then deleted.
When data is no longer required, we delete or de-identify it securely.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@bytestudio.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. If we are unable to action your request, we will explain why in writing.
7. Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is set with
